Pak plans panel to meet 26/11 case probe officer, magistrate

Although a detailed written communication is still awaited, Pakistan, in a note verbale, has formally told India that it plans to set up a Commission which will visit India to examine the Magistrate who recorded 26/11 gunman Ajmal Amir Kasab’s statement, and the Investigating Officer of the case.
Having already indicated its willingness to cooperate with such a mechanism, the Indian government will shortly seek a clarification on the note verbale.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rehman Malik met India’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Sharat Sabharwal on October 3 and is learnt to have conveyed his government’s intention to set up a Commission which would want to examine these two officials related to the trial of Kasab.
The note verbale, despite being the first official communication on the matter, does not specify how many members will the Commission have and what exactly will its mandate be. But it has been verbally indicated that the panel could have two to three members.
